Virginia Gazette, Williamsburg A Louis Ovitt Elise Williams Robert Dail Sr. William Beane A funeral was held Wednesday for Louis R. Ovitt, 57, of Meridian, who died April 22 at Choctaw Medical Center in Butler, Ala. Mr. Ovitt was born in New York and had been a former area resident.

He retired from the Navy and was currently employed by Alabama Security Service. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars and was active with the Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by three daughters, Leah Hall of Meridian; Robin Marlowe of Leeds, and Christine Canard of Nattiesburg, four sons, David Ovitt of Tampa, Tim Ovitt of Atlanta, Leroy Ovitt of Meridian and Roger Ovitt of Williamsburg; and eight grandchildren. The funeral was held at Barham Funeral Home by the Rev. Mancuso and the Rev.

Alfred Braddock. Burial, with military honors, was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Meridian. James E. James A funeral will be held Saturday for James Edward James, of Williamsburg, who died April 28 at his home. Mr.

James had been a lifelong area resident. He retired from Colonial Williamsburg's landscaping department in 1989 after 20 years. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Virginia Canaday and Estelle Crawley, both of Charles City, and Kay Brown of New Kent County; three sons, Clint James of New Kent, Donald Robinson of Williamsburg and James Delaney of Richmond; a stepson, Charles Mitchell of Williamsburg; five sisters, Alma Ashley of Chicago, Clara Frazier, Virginia Taylor, Georgia James and Melissa Jones, all of Williamsburg; 10 grandchildren; step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held at p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church by the Rev. H.C. Cobb and the Rev.

Henry Newby. Burial will be in Williamsburg Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church by 11 a.m. Family and friends are to assemble by noon at 211 Carriage Rd. Grace Ahner A funeral will be held Wednesday for Grace Mowrey Ahner, 68, of Hampton, mother of Wayne A.

Ahner of Seaford. She died April 29 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News. Mrs. Ahner was born in Jim Thorpe, and had been a Peninsula resident for many years. She retired from Sussex Beauty Shop, Hampton, in 1989 after 14 years.

She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hampton, and its Lydia Circle. She is also survived by one other son, William M. Ahner of John's Island, S.C., and a grandchild. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church by the Rev.

Lester P. Messerschmidt. Burial will be in Veterans Memorial Gardens, Hampton. The family will receive friends at the son's home in Seaford. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Howell was born in Mountain Grove and had been Suffolk resident for 45 years. She was former schoolteacher in Suffolk. She was member of Oakland Christian Church in Suffolk. She is also survived by her husband, P.D. Howell one other daughter; two sons; her mother; three sisters; two brothers and five grandchildren.

The graveside service in Holly Lawn Cemetery and the memorial service in the church were held by the Rev. David Wilson. Gisella Brissette Friday for Gisella Antoinette Brissette, 80, of Bethesda, Md.

She died of heart failure April 23 in Bethesda. Mrs. Brissette was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, and had lived in Williamsburg 1974-82. During part of this time, she worked at the Williamsburg Community Hospital.

She is survived by three daughters, Carmen Brissette Grayson of Williamsburg; Marie-Alice Jackson of Chevy Chase, and Judith Taylor of Parker, a son, Richard F. Brissette of Valparaiso, 11 grandchildren, including Gisele R. A. Grayson and T. Keller Grayson Ill, both of Williamsburg.

Mr. Beane was born in King and Queen Courthouse and had been a lifelong arca resident. He was a road building engineer for private contractors. He was member of Immanuel Episcopal Church in King and Queen Courthouse, where he served as vestryman and treasurer. He is also survived by three sisters and one other brother.

George Riggins A graveside service was held Monday for George Henry Riggins, 89, of Poquoson, uncle of Delores R. Karwac of Grafton.
