Course and exam enrolment (2024)

How does it work – in short:

  • Before the start of the block you need to enroll for course units via ProgRESS. This also applies to the thesis which is considered a course unit.
When you are enrolled for the course unit, you will be enrolled for the exam by the faculty.
This does not apply when you have already passed the course and you want to take the exam again for a higher grade. You need to enroll yourself for the exam.

  • If you did not pass the course after taking the exam, the faculty will enroll you for the resit.

  • Check and/or manage your exam enrolment(s) during week 5 of the block, the Enrolment Check Week.

Please note that other faculties possibly maintain other enrolment deadlines and other procedures.

A. Before every block

You have to enroll for every course unit via ProgRESS (this includes your thesis which is considered a course unit). You can enroll for a maximum of four course units per block. If you wish to take more than four course units, you need to ask permission from your programme coordinator. With the proof of permission (e-mail) you can go to the Student Support Desk where you will be enrolled you for the courses in question.
If you are registered for two Bachelor's or Master's degre programmes at FEB, you do not need to ask for permission from the programme coordinator. You can visit the Student Student Desk straight away.

Note: new students can also enroll during the faculty introduction activities.

How to enroll? See this video.

  • Registration before the deadline

The deadline for enrolment is one week before the start of the block. You will only be guaranteed a place in the course unit if you enroll before this deadline.

  • Registration after the deadline

If you enroll after the deadline you will not be guaranteed a place in the course unit. However, there are some limited possibilities up until one week after the block starts.

  • If a course enrolment is not closed after the deadline has passed, you can enroll via ProgRESS until the course enrolment closes or until one week after the block starts. You will be granted access to the course unit in Student Portal and you will be registered for the exam.

  • If a course enrolment is closed after the deadline has passed, you need to enroll for the exam in week 5 - the Enrolment Check Week - when ProgRESS re-opens for checking all your exam enrolments.
If a lecturer agrees, he/she can add you to the course in Brightspace, thereby giving you access to information on the course unit.

Once the first week of the block has finished, you will not be permitted to enroll for course units. Depending on the course unit, you may be allowed to take the course unit in the next semester or academic year.

B. During week 5 of the block: Enrolment Check Week

During this week, you should check and/or adjust your exam enrolments in ProgRESS. This is your responsibility.
After this week you will be not be able to change anything and will have to comply with the official procedure at the Board of Examiners. If you do not register via ProgRESS, you will not receive a grade, even if you take the exam.

Avoid problems and follow the checklist for this week:

  • Check whether the list of exams and resits in ProgRESS is correct
You will see a list of the exams you may take. These are the exams for which the faculty has enrolled you and which you are entitled to take. You may not take any exams if you do not fulfil the admissions criteria. You will receive an e-mail about your exam enrolments, so keep a close eye on your e-mail.

  • Manage your enrolments
Add any exams you want to take or delete the exams you do not intend to take. Enrolment in ProgRESS is possible during the entire Enrolment Check Week (week 5).
    - Add exams:
You can enroll for exams or resits of course units for which you were not enrolled. You must fulfil the admissions criteria for the course unit concerned. You will be given automatic access to that course unit in Brightspace.
Students who do not follow a degree programme at FEB and who did not enrol for the course in ProgRESS have to register at the FEB Student Support Desk to enrol for the exam.
    - Delete exams:
You must delete any exams you do not intend to take. If you delete an exam enrolment, you can still take the resit. You will have to enroll for the resit yourself during the Enrolment Check week of the relevant period.

  • Identification

Prior to the examination you must show your student ID card, otherwise you will not be allowed to participate in the (re)examination. If you have lost your student ID card, you can, by way of high exception, identify yourself with a passport, ID card or Dutch driving license. Apply for a new student card via this site as soon as possible.

  • Check exam regulations
Make sure you know your rights and obligations in relation to exams and resits. You find all regulations here.

C. After the regular exams: enrolling for resits

The following applies to semester 1A:
The faculty will enroll you for the resit of a particular course unit if you enrolled for its regular exam but did not pass it.
No resits are officially scheduled in semester 1A. If a course unit in semester 1A is concluded with a resit, students will be enrolled for this resit in consultation with the lecturer.
Note: In order to qualify for the 'cum laude' distinction you may not have taken any resits (see the TER).

The following applies to semester 1B:
The faculty will enroll you for the resit of a particular course unit if you enrolled for its regular exam and did not pass it.
If you passed the course unit and you still want to take the resit, you must enroll for it yourself during the Enrolment Check Week (week 5).
Note: In order to qualify for the 'cum laude' distinction you may not have taken any resits (see the TER).

The following applies to semester 2A:
The faculty will enroll you for the resit if you enrolled for the regular exam and did not pass it.
If you passed the course unit and you still want to take the resit, you must enroll for it yourself during the Enrolment Check Week (week 5).
Note: In order to qualify for the 'cum laude' distinction you may not have taken any resits (see the TER).

The following applies to semester 2B:
The faculty will enroll you for the resit if you enrolled for the regular exam and did not pass it. The results of the regular exam need to be registered in ProgRESS on time.
You can check whether you have been enrolled for the resit from seven days before the date of the resit. You can also enroll for the resit yourself between seven and three days before the date of the resit. This also applies to students who have passed the course unit but still want to take the resit.
Note: In order to qualify for the 'cum laude' distinction you may not have taken any resits (see the TER).

If you have any further questions, please come to the Student Support Desk well on time.
